I am a US Citizen in Denmark for 5 weeks now and want to marry a Dane and live here. How easy is it to do?
I am in Denmark presently and have no residency permit or work permit. I came over here after meeting a Danish woman in the states and we have planned for awhile for me to come over here. I love it and want to stay. We want to get married soon, is this possible, and if so how do we go about it. Also, will I have to leave and re-enter the country to do this?

Go to an American Embassy in Denmark and ask them to help you to file for dual citizenship. They have all the papers and can help you get them filed with the correct officials in Denmark. They may require you to go back to USA until all the paper work is approved. Good Luck Red

You might want to check on this. I have heard that if you're a US citizen living outside the US you still have to pay Federal income taxes. Check it out. It sounds crazy but I think it's true.

To marry in Denmark (even with a Danish) one needs to be resident in Denmark & seems like u have only visitor's status. I'd suggest that u both get married in USA because in USA no residency restriction is in place to get married. She can visit you in USA & u both can easily register your marriage there. Once married your (future) wife can sponsor you to move to live in Denmark with her.

I live in Michigan but my fiance and I want to get married in Denmark. Where do we get our marriage license?
My fiance is in the Army and is stationed in Germany. It is May and he won't be able to come home on leave until December and we don't want to wait till then. We have decided to get married in Denmark next month, but don't know where to get our marriage license? I live in Michigan. Any help would be great!

you always get your marriage license from the place where you are getting married. so if you are getting married in denmark, then you will need to get your marriage license from denmark.
2 :
If you get married outside of the US, you need to do the same as you would normally do inside the US -- follow all local laws! That means your license comes from Denmark, and the form of ceremony complies with the laws of Denmark -- civil versus religious ceremony, waiting period, proof of identity and status, etc. So, before you fly off to Denmark, you really need to be finding the precise requirements of Denmark! One way to do that would probably be to contact the embassy of Denmark, probably located in Washington, DC. I expect you can find address, phone number, etc. on the internet. A lot of US citizens are under the impression that they can go to another country and get married at the US embassy, but that is not true. US Ambassadors and other embassy personnel do NOT perform marriage ceremonies at the embassy or anywhere else, and do not allow others to perform marriage ceremonies on embassy property.
3 :
You will get your marriage license in Denmark, but you must contact the American Embassy there to have your marriage legally recognized in the US. One month is probably not enough time to get that all going.
4 :
Obviously in the country where you're getting married.
5 :
You need to apply for your marriage license in the city you will be married in, not the one you live in.
6 :
you give notice of your intent to marry in the country you live and the place you want to marry.you get your licence from the country you're marrying in - check the minimum residency and any paperwork that may need filing on their side as you're having a DW wedding.the country may need something like a certificate of 'no impediment'

According to the Danish Marriage Act and rules prescribed by the Danish Ministry of Justice, the following is required for a foreigner to be married in Denmark: ̢ۢBe lawfully present in Denmark ̢ۢ(1) Documentation showing present marital status, i.e. copy of your last U.S. tax return. ̢ۢIf you live outside the U.S., present a valid residence permit from country of residence ̢ۢValid passport showing proof of entry into Denmark or into the Schengen area ̢ۢIf you have been previously married, you must present your original divorce decree. It must appear clearly from the text of the decree that the divorce is final and cannot be appealed. If you wish to get married in Copenhagen, you should contact the Citizens Service Center or the Copenhagen City Hall well in advance prior to your planned wedding. If your previous marriage was terminated by death, an original Death Certificate must be submitted to the Citizens Service Center. In order to get married in Copenhagen, you need to personally visit the Citizens Service Center (Borgerservice) at: Jarmers Plads 7, 1551 Copenhagen V. Borgerservice cannot be contacted by telephone. www.kk.dk If you are planning to get married in Copenhagen, but you are not yet in the country, you may contact the Copenhagen City Hall as follows: telephone: +45 33 66 33 66. E-mail: borgerservice@kk.dk NOTE: Foreign citizens wishing to get married in Denmark are subject to Danish Law. The U.S. Embassy is in no position to intervene, nor can we ask the Danish authorities to make exceptions to their requirements. Non-residents pay a fee of DKr 500 to get married in Denmark.

you must be american
2 :
LMFAO of course they do...people live in the arctic im sure they can survive there too..canada isnt as cold as people think for the record..and no we don't live in igloos:)
3 :
Wow, Those islands are the to the left of GREENLAND, not Denmark, Denmark owns Greenland so thats why maps sometimes say (Denmark) below Greenland. And yes, some Eskimo people live on those islands. And Scott - I am American too, although I agree with you.
4 :
Left of Greenland, maybe, which may be marked as Denmark because it belongs to Denmark or is associated with it for administration, can't remember. There are towns or settlements in northern Canada though most are on the mainland. Iqaluit is on Baffin Island and yes, it's cold for much of the year .
5 :
Left of Denmark? Those are the British Isles. Historically the world's greatest exporter of white people. Many humans, yes.
6 :
Yes, Inuit people do. It's not "left" of Greenland, it's "west" as it is a map.
7 :
Inuit hamlets extend very far north. Still some islands are uninhabited. Some have nothing more than a research station. The hamlet of Resolute on Cornwallis Island exists as an Inuit hamlet only because Inuit were relocated to it in 1953 by the Canadian government. Little Cornwallis Island is uninhabited.
8 :
That area is called the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. It is very sparsely populated, and most of the people who live there are Inuit, and many live traditional lifestyles (hunting, etc.). Approximately 14000 people live there. The largest "city" is Iqaluit on Baffin Island with about 6000 people. It is the capital of Nunavut. Despite the small population, they have things like Internet (you might get somebody from the arctic who can answer this better), but things like food and gas are REALLY expensive. Living expenses are subsidized by the Federal Government
